April 13, 2018
Added a comparison page for the G3-GS GigaStor models.

Added details for the new SFP power (dBm) field on the Current State tab of the capture card properties.
Updated the list of supported transceivers to include these additions: 40GBASE-CR4, 10GBASE-ER, 10GBASE-ZR, 10GBASE-T, 10 Gb Direct Attach Copper, and 1000BASE-ZX.

Released several new 2U and 4U GigaStor appliances. The new models begin with G3-GS. The range of systems include 1/10 gigabit 4-port 2U 16T or 32T to a number of 8-port 4U appliances that have storage of 96T to 1152T. We also have 40 gigabit 2-port 4U appliances with storage of 288T to 1152T.
Added a new procedure for the JBOD IPMI port (G3-GS models). This procedure is important if you wish to monitor the power supply units or RAID drives in your JBOD.

Updated the description of Enable packet time charting in Setting the GigaStor general options to provide more details about how charts can be configured to show every interval in which a packet appears when viewing a chart at sub-second intervals.

Removed an outdated note from Setting a schedule for when data captures should occur stating that packet captures would stop when the disk was full. A feature was added in Observer Analyzer 17.2.0.0 that prevents the disk from ever completely filling.

Published new versions of the Observer GigaStor Hardware Installation Guides. Along with other minor changes, the parts list along with the technical specifications moved to the first page.
Updated Windows to say "Windows 7" in the GigaStor OVA instructions.

Changed RAID drive insertion instructions to say that you should "push" each drive until fully inserted. Previous instructions recommended pulling slightly on the drives.
Added a caution that if you lose your Microsoft Windows license for GigaStor OVA that you must purchase a new OVA.

Created instructions to import and deploy various sized GigaStor OVA files into your virtualization host. A printed copy is included in the box with the shipped USB drive.

Removed documentation of the NetFlow Agent feature used for generating NetFlow records. The feature was deprecated in late 2016, and the documentation had not reflected its removal. This was corrected. Note that features for viewing and processing NetFlow captures remain in the product.

To help you find the right information, the capture card documentation was split into two sections: Hardware configuration for technical specifications and SFP compatibility details, and Software configuration for driver settings and integration with the Observer Platform.
Added an overview of key features for the capture card and a description of its role in the Observer Platform.
Added a list of supported SFP module types for the capture card.
Added reference details about capture card packet deduplication.
Added conceptual information about duplicate packets and deduplication.
Updated the instructions for assigning specific capture card ports to probe instances.
Added reference details of the capture card properties in Windows Device Manager.
Added an overview of hardware acceleration, including its use and purpose.
Added a list of features that require hardware acceleration be turned on. Hardware acceleration is enabled by default.
Added instructions for How to enable hardware acceleration. This is in case you turn off hardware acceleration and would like it re-enabled.
Updated the instructions for reinstalling and removing capture card drivers, including how to flash the firmware.
Added a list of Supported time stamp and synchronization methods.

Archived all GigaStor Gen2 documentation. Use the links to find installation instructions and technical specifications.
Removed time slicing documentation since this feature was replaced by adaptive throttling. Adaptive throttling has no user-configurable settings.
Removed documentation for configuration settings that are no longer handled by the Observer Probe. These settings are handled by Observer Management Server (OMS).
Updated details about the accelerated analysis feature for GigaStor hardware appliances and GigaStor Software Edition.
